John Chapman was born on September 26, 1774 in Leominster, Massachusetts, and is better known as Johnny Appleseed. Beginning in 1802, Chapman wandered through Pennsylvania and eventually Ohio planting apple nurseries. Many of Ohio’s first orchards began with saplings from Chapman’s nurseries.
Now through the Chapman School of Leadership in Sustainability, Urbana University is planting the seeds of leadership in sustainability through educational programming. Whether it be by offering one of the University Leadership Summits and earning sustainability certification, or focusing on the completion of the MBA in Leadership in Sustainability, the Chapman School at Urbana University is the leader in personalized training in the growing field of sustainability.
